CONSTRUCTION FAQ's

10.

What is the construction process like?

Managing a remodeling project can be stressful, especially if you're juggling work, family, and other responsibilities.  We're here to prepare you for the real difficulties that come with a remodel. While we can't make the process effortless, we can certainly make it easier.

11.

How long will the constructoin process take?

Your contractor will be able to provide an exact timeline based on your project's size and complexity.  As a rough guideline:

  • A bathroom remodel may take 2 months

  • A kitchens remodel may take 3+ months

When you are planning your remodel, please know that contractors are often booked 6-12 months in advance.

12.

How much will construction on my project cost?

As a guideline, construction costs for renovations or remodels in Seattle and surrounding areas often start around:

  • $60k+ for a bathroom, $90 - 150k+ for a kitchen

  • $200 - 300k+ for an addition, $400 - 500k+ for a 2nd story or whole house remodel

Keep in mind costs vary per the contractor's expertise and the size and complexity of the project.

13.

Do we really need a designer on-site during construction?

We are thoughtful and detailed in reviewing every design decision with you.  The contractor may not be privy to all the reasons why we landed on a decision, so we like to stick around to ensure all the important details remain in the final design, even when small (or large) adjustments have to be made.

14.

How often will you meet with me during construction?

We like to have scheduled weekly meetings with the team during construction.  Sometimes every other week will suffice depending on the project schedule.

Yes. If your contractor prefers not to manage material and finish orders in-house, Urban Roost can offer project management and material purchasing services. Our pricing is competitive and often under the retail cost available to the consumer.

I've worked with a contractor before, but it didn't go well. How can I ensure I select the right contractor?

We've got your back! By listening to what worked and what didn't work on your previous project, we can help pair you with the right-fit contractor to help you achieve your project goals!

18.

I've hired a contractor in the past and would like to work with them again, is that cool?

We work with contractors who are thoughtful, plan ahead, and pay attention to details. We also believe that the process is just as important as the end result. If your preferred contractor shares these same values, great! Let's collaborate! If they are new to us, we do request a moment to get to know them to ensure we can partner seamlessly on your project.
